On the day of the activity, we’ll meet up to kick off our biking adventure to the legendary Teotihuacán Valley. Are you ready to pedal? Here we go!
We’ll start with a guided walking tour of the Teotihuacán Archaeological Zone, where we’ll discover the majesty and legacy of one of the most influential metropolises of pre-Hispanic Mesoamerica. After immersing ourselves in the history of the monuments and temples, we’ll put on our helmets, adjust our bikes, and get ready to set off on the route.
We’ll set out on a pleasant bike ride through the local communities and neighborhoods surrounding the archaeological complex. Along the way, we’ll delve into the living traditions of the Day of the Dead by visiting local cemeteries adorned with the distinctive orange of the cempasúchil flower.
We’ll make a very special stop at a pre-Hispanic-inspired offering, where we’ll reveal the profound meaning behind each of its elements: water, food, salt, papel picado, and photographs of loved ones. Along the way, we’ll explore how the indigenous cosmogony of death has evolved to intertwine in a unique way with the valley’s current customs.
In addition, we’ll explore a neighborhood featuring murals and participate in a workshop on obsidian and handmade crafts to learn about the trades that have endured through the centuries. To wrap up this unforgettable celebration on a high note, we’ll gather to enjoy a traditional local meal.
Finally, we’ll conclude the tour in Teotihuacán 5.5 hours later, or return to the starting point in Mexico City 8 hours later, depending on the tour option you booked.
